CS371p Spring 2020: Peter Cui

Eighth Entry: Week of 30 Mar – 5 Apr

Me, Peter Cui
  • What did you do this past week?

I finished the allocator project with my partner Max. I had three exams this past week and I think I did well on all of them. I took a lot of naps. I played a lot of League of Legends. I also watched a bunch of movies, like Little Women and The Social Network. I also work remote now so I did what I would normally do for my job at TACC.

  • What’s in your way?

This new Darwin project is in my way because me and my partner can’t figure out how to represent instructions. I also have an essay due this Friday for my Computational Brain class so that’s in my way too. I also need to work harder for my job this week since I didn’t accomplish much last week.

  • What will you do next week?

I will keep working on Darwin with my partner, write my essay for Computational Brain, work on the tasks my boss gave me and remind my boss to write me a recommendation letter. I will also continue reading Albert Camus’s The Plague because I think that’s the perfect book to read during this pandemic. I might also write something for fun because I’ve been wanting to write stories.

  • What was your experience of Test #1b? (this question will vary, week to week)

I thought it was really easy. I successfully predicted all the questions the day before the exam based on the name of each question. Me and the other people in my breakout room finished the exam in 30 minutes and we didn’t really encounter any problem in general.

  • What made you happy this week?

Playing League of Legends with my friends made me happy.

  • What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick-of-the-week is this YouTube channel called Lessons from the Screenplay. It provides detailed analysis to movie screenplays and shows you how a good screenplay can elevate the entire movie. Since I am a huge movie nerd I enjoyed watching all of their videos. If you like watching movies or interested in writing you should definitely check it out.
